Hallway that leads to our room

I went over the weekend to Dubai and stayed in One & The Only, The Palm in Dubai. We booked Palm Manor Premiere room. Here is my experience at the hotel:

Location:

It’s located in the palm, right after Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Hotel. Once you get in to the palm, it takes around 10-15 minutes to reach the hotel. It is a little bit far. Dubai Mall was 30 minutes away.

The Lobby

Check in:

We checked in around 8pm. We were seated in the lobby while they checked us in. They took our passports and credit card and returned to us, 10 minutes later. During the time, the waiter came in and asked us if we wanted in anything to drink.

The Beach:

I walked to beach to check it out. It was lovely. I didn’t swim in it but I was very tempted to. It was clean and very beautiful.

Breakfast

The Restaurants:

I had our breakfast in Zest restaurant. It was half buffet and half a la carte. I ordered Egg Benedict and it was delicious.

Spacious Room

The Room

The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. It was high-tech (flat screen, connect your iPod to stereo system)

Bathroom

The Bathroom & Amneties:

The bathroom was big. It had a nice bath tub and a shower room where it had a rain shower which was one of my two favorite parts of the bathroom. My second favorite part of the bathroom was their shower gel & lotion. It smelled of Amber. Since my favorite scent is Amber, I really loved it.

Room

The service:

• We were assigned a butler and he wrote his number next to the phone incase we wanted anything. I didn’t feel he was really attending to our needs. Half of my requests were unmet. I requested that he find us a reservation at a restaurant. He called us later to tell us he couldn’t reach the restaurant. I checked online and got the restaurant phone number and called the restaurant myself. Another request, I wanted to know what time was Thuhur prayer.. also ignored. I ended up checking a local newspaper to know the timing.
• I tried their laundry service. They were quick and efficient. I gave them my clothes around midnight and asked them to have them ready before 6pm the day after. They did as I told.

My ONE fils worth opinion:

I’m glad I tried it out but I wouldn’t stay in the same room again because of the following reasons:

• For the same price, I would get better rooms & service at 5-star hotels.
• Location: it is a little bit far. Most taxis didn’t do know where it was because it had recently opened. It took us around 30 minutes to go Dubai Mall. The average taxi charge was between 70-100Dh. If you stay in it, I highly recommend renting a car.

Would I recommend to people who enjoy swimming? Maybe yes, the beach was beautiful, quiet and somewhat secluded. But if you don’t plan to swim, I recommend going to another hotel.

If I am going to come ever again, I would stay in their Beach Villa. I saw it. Really Lovely.
